Take a Nap and Relax with the Cashmere Blanket

Do you like sleeping with a cool environment and warm blanket? If so, perhaps you should consider having a cashmere blanket for your bed. We all know that wool will provide a sure remedy to frigid nights and shivery mornings, but wool blankets can be heavy and hard to pack. However, with a cashmere blanket, you won’t be burdened by the weight and still rewarded with the comfort.

Cashmere and wool both provide natural insulation, but cashmere is both lighter and softer than wool. Cashmere originates in the mountains of the Himalayas and the in underbelly and neck of goats. These fine hairs are goat’s natural defense against the fierce winters of the extreme climates of the Himalayan mountains. You have this same ability with a cashmere blanket.

True pure cashmere is one of nature’s softest fibers. For a piece of wool to be considered true cashmere, it needs to be less than 18.5 microns in diameter (1 micron is one-millionth of a meter) and at least 3.175 inches long. Cashmere from china is even finer than that, coming in at 15 microns in diameter. Surely this is some very soft fiber.

Now you may understand why cashmere is expensive. However, its price can be justified through its appreciation and comfort. If a product is 100% pure cashmere, then it would be very pricy to afford. However, manufacturers, in an attempt to keep cashmere affordable, sometimes will blend cashmere with other wool fibers. The cashmere may only come from more coarse hairs on the outside parts of the goat, but it will still have cashmere. Even with these modifications, the product will still be lighter and softer than a pure woolen blanket.

For those of you who can afford it, a pure cashmere blanket would make your bedroom heaven to sleep in. Combined with embroidery work, monograms and floral designs, your bedroom would feel like royalty.

If you have decided to get a cashmere blanket for the bedroom, make sure that you shop around and examine your options. There is an emporium of online sites that sell cashmere products and carry blankets. While cashmere from China may be the most expensive, this fabric made from countries such as Iran, Afghanistan and other countries may cost you less. Regardless of which cashmere blanket you buy, one thing is certain: your bedroom will be more comfortable and your sleep will be greatly anticipated.
